How to Make a Pocket Whale

If you or your friend suffers from a little bit of anxiety or in need of a little lucky charm, then these pocket whales (also known as worry whales) are a great little project and gift to make.  I like to have mine on my desk as a little security blanket that I can give a little support squeeze to when I am feeling overwhelmed or you can tell it all your worries.

Alternatively you can turn them into a keyring or bag charm by adding a keychain to it.

You can make these in any colour you wish to, from the typical blue colour to a bright and cheerful yellow. I made a variety of coloured pocket whales as each one was then gifted to a friend based on their favourite colours.

This project is a very fast crochet project and the only sewing is the embroidery if you choose to add some rosey cheeks to your little pocket whales.

To make your pocket whales you will need:

  • DK Size Yarn
    • Colour of your choice for the body
    • White Yarn
    • A little bit of Pink Yarn
  • Crochet Hook – I am using my 2.5mm Clover Amour Hook *
  • Toy Stuffing
  • Yarn Needle
  • Stitch Markers
  • Pins
  • Pair of scissors
  • Safety Eyes
