How to Make Flowers for Preemies

Today I am excited to share something close to my heart, my crocheted flowers for preemies!  These little creations aren’t just adorable, they are designed with love to make a difference for our tiniest fighters in the NICU.

Let me tell you a bit about why they are so special and how you can make one too. (Spoiler: it’s easier than you think and I have got a full tutorial waiting for you!).

Why Crocheted Flowers Matter

Did you know that premature babies can find comfort in these flowers tentacles? They have soft petals and gently curled tentacles that mimic the feel of the umbilical cord.  This can help sooth and calm preemies, giving them a sense of familiarity and security.

Not only that, but these tentacles also reduce the risk of babies tugging on medical wires and tubes that may be monitoring them.  Plus they are a heartfelt way to support NICU families, letting them know they are not along during what can be a challenging time.

What makes these Flowers Special?

My design features:

  • Five soft petals to bring a touch of brightness and beauty
  • Three tentacles that provide sensory stimulation and comfort for little hands

It is the perfect blend of form and function, made with care for those who need it most.
